Levana just started up our ‘ Lunchtime Chat Series’.Each week over lunch we will be talking about and challenging various systems of oppression that exist at Queen’s and in the greater Kingston area. We plan to do this roughly once every two and are looking for ideas on what to talk about. Please message us on facebook, send us a tweet or an email, or stop by the Grey House to let us know what you want to see the group talk about next. This Friday will be our third ‘chat’ in the series.

Continuing where we left off last conversation about power and privilege in the classroom, join us Friday the 22nd of November in the living room of the Grey House to discuss safe(r) spaces at Queen’s and in Kingston.

How do we create and maintain safer spaces? How effective are safe spaces? What do we do about conservative pushback against naming and creating safer spaces? How do we deal with everyday racisms, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and other silencing in spaces that claim to be safe(r)? Who are these ‘safer space’ safer for?

Come by and share your thoughts over lunch. Food and coffee provided by the Levana Gender Advocacy Centre.
